1900 Torino

Does anyone know of someone who know something about a Torino rifle dated 1900.It is suppose to shoot 6.5x52 ammo but the cartridge is about 1/4 in to long to fit in chamber.Gunsmith wants $80.00 to check it out but gun is not worth any more money invested in it.Thanks for any help,Ed
