?on Universal M1 Paratrooper

I finally got the M1 paid for and home.
Shoots great and all,but I do have a question.
The folding stock on mine folds around to the
left side.Check out Item# 13178813.It folds
under.Which is correct? Or were they made both
ways?

    Is yours an "Inland" branded gun? The one you are comparing whatever yours is, to, is a "Pre-Ban UNIVERSAL Carbine." Unless yours is also a "Universal" made after the Military M-1 Carbines were made, you would be attempting to "compare Apples to Zucchini Squash!"

    Short Answer? "Universal Carbines" are NOT Military.......and are not the same as the Military ones made in the 1940's so are "Not Correct."

    I just saw the difference between mine and
    the one in the auction and wondered if they
    were made both ways,or if one had been modified.

    Either style could be correct, or wrong.

    Several companies made replacement "paratroop" stocks, some were side-folders, some under-folders, & some telescoped.

    Unless the stock is marked "Universal Firearms", it may not be original. But, why worry about it? We're not talking about a rare collectible here.

    The US military only used side folders on the M1 carbine. Everything else is something else (Hollywood?).

    According to the catalog that came with Universal Firearms M1 Carbines in the 70's, the correct stock for a Universal Firearms Model #5000-PT .30 Caliber carbine with Schmeisser Type Folding Paratrooper Stock folded under.

    I'm not for sure, but I could swear I saw some US Military M1's with fold under stocks. I'm not really a M1 Carbine folding stock fan so what do I know?
