shotgun inserts?

can you still get inserts to convert 12ga to shoot lesser ga shell? if so does anyone know where to find them?have a 12ga double that i'd like convert to 20 so my wife could shoot it.thanks

    Or you can get a set of Briley tubes for it, complete with interchangable chokes. You pay a little more, but your getting the best there is. Briley chamber inserts allow your extractor/ejector to function as it should, and include the barrel liners and instalation/removial tools.

    Hello Rick, If you are really serious about your wife shooting well with your double gun, don't waste your money on chamber mates. Go ahead and spend the money on a set of Briley Chamber mates. I have been useing them for several years, (28 & 410 gauge)in my Beretta O&U with no problems and the ejectors work with them. They also come with screw in chokes. Price about $400.00 a set.     If she realy wants to start why not get her her own gun I would before I spent 400.00 bucks on inserts. Just my 2 cents.

    Some 12 ga. with inertia triggers will not reset for the second shot, but mostly this is a problem with the .410. The 20 should have enough energy as does the 28. Seminole makes short tubes with extractors, Briley makes the premium stuff. There are some out there that extract/eject the whole adaptor so that you have to poke the
    shell out of the insert after the insert itself was extracted/ejected.

    I considered buying a set of Brileys, but remember, the adaptors weigh about 10 to 12 oz. which adds to the weight of the gun you have. Not a lot but it is noticeable.

    D@D has a point. For the price Brileys, you can start to look at used O/U for not much more, and what's better than buying a small bore that you can maybe "borrow" once in a while?

    Another thing to consider is can she properly hold up, shoulder, and fire a double? My wife can't hold the barrel weight of my 12 gauges - even my lightweight Ithaca was too barrel-heavy for her.
    I'd try her out with some snap-caps and see if she can hold the gun up properly long enough where she could even enjoy it. If she can, then I'd get the cheapo chamber-mates and if she likes shooting, THEN either buy the expensive full-length tubes or buy her a gun.
