Ruger 454
Looking at a ruger 454 redhawk, 9 1/2" barrel. Does anyone have any experiances with this set up? And how much punishment does the 454 give scopes?

lots of recoil in that one , they are a great shooting gun but in my experience they twisted the heck out of my wrist, I didn't have a scope on min, I had the bushnell holosight and it held up very well ,, I also had the SRH in 480 and found that it had less of a twist in its recoil but more of a straight back push , if I where you before I got one i would try to shoot one someplace because they are not for every one 0 -
As above, but also price ammo for the beast. When I saw the price of ammo for a 454, I decided on the .44 for me. 0 -

I have a Leupold M8-2X on my Ruger Super Redhawk, and have had ZERO problems with it once I figured out that a little Loctite was needed. The pounding recoil shook the mounts loose after the first 15 shots, then again at the next 20, so I used a little loctite to stop it from shaking loose, and haven't had any problems since.
As the other fellows have mentioned, if you are not used to shooting that much cartridge in a handgun, you could be in for a real surprise[:D] On a real good day (shooting off a rest), I can cloverleaf 5 shots at 50 yards[^] with my reloads... which is the only way to be able to afford shooting it much.

I have a regular Redhawk in .44magnum. It's big, and beautiful. I've only held the Super Redhawk once, and it looks like a whole new monster... 0
