I have a Series 70 LW Commander that's been my primary carry gun for about 25 years, but Kimber and SA are also fine guns.

Don't have any experience with the Paraordnance.

I have a stainless steel Colt 1991A1 Commander that is an outstanding pistol--accurate and reliable. I've got a Para Ord P-13 which is their double stack verision of a Commander, and it's a great gun, but has that slightly fatter grip. I think Para is now making a single stack stainless Commander-sized pistol with a bobbed hammer spur in their LDA series. I've been carrying their full-sized LDA for awhile now, but I'm having trouble dealing with the "uncocked and locked" concept after years with the standard 1911. Odd thing is, although I've got a lot of .45s, I think I agree with Xracer that I like my Series 70 blue Commander the best! Now, if you want to talk full-sized models.......

I have carried many different Colt 45s from full size to officers model.I now carry a Para C-6.45,its the compact model.I love the light double action trigger. The gun is accurate and performs flawlessly.

The only 1911 I have at the moment is a stainless Commander size Springfield Armory in .40 S&W. I like it, and I carry it when I go into cities over 50,000 pop. In those instances, I'm also carrying a Star FireStar in .40, a Beretta TomCat in .32, and a 12 guage in the car. Oh, yeah... also a couple of big knives.

Probably my favorite carry 1911 was a full size Colt Delta Elite - traded it off, wish I still had it.

    God Bless America and...

I have a Kimber Pro Eclipse, and I love it. You also get a lot for your money with Kimber. They offer almost all of their 1911's with a 4" barrel, so there is almost always something that will fit your taste and budget. Kimber would be my choice.
