Best Chronograph?

Out of all the different manufacturers, who makes the best one. Which model? Why?

  Cant remember the name of mine and aint going out to the shop and dig it out, Get the one with 3 sky screens and a printer. Iv'e had mine for 10 years and no problems and the print out is GREAT, also works on one 9 volt batt. Cost me around $300.00.[:D][:D][:D]

  I got a Pact Model I back when Midway was selling them for under $100, and for the money, I couldn't have made a better choice!
  I also have an Oehler for the silhouette club, but that cost much more than most beginners can afford. They both give standard deviation, high/low velocity, number of shots, etc. , but I still like the Model I for ease of use; set it up, push a button and shoot.

  Have, or had, the Chrony Beta Master, the Pact PC2 and the Oehler 35P. The Oehler is the most accurate and providing the most information. Also, the hardest to set up. The Pact is handy, works almost as well as the Oehler, but is light sensitive. The Chrony is easy to set up too, but like the Pact, is very light sensitive. You'll be money ahead to go ahead and get the best you can afford. This is usually a once in a lifetime investment.

  I won an Oehler 35 at the Intl Revolver Championship a couple years ago and love it.
  One nice thing the Oehlers have is 3 screens. I dont believe the others do. The first 2 clock the bullet and it is confirmed between the second and third screens. This is likely why the Oehlers cost more. It is a nice feature.

  I have had a Chrony for at least 15 years, It's a little sensitive at times, but easy to use and I believe it's accurate. A good friend/gunsmith/gunshop owner now deceased, once told me he didn't trust the readings on a Chrony and thought they gave higher than actual readings. Since I never had a load give a greater than expected (in fact usually lower than hoped), and it is consistant, this was one of the few things we disagreed on. Nevertheless get some type of chronograph, because without one your in the dark with your loads (handloads or factory).

  Most on this forum know that shotguns are my "thing". However, I can hold my own with most rifle, pistol, archery, and even sling-shot things. I have or have had just about every chronograph you have ever heard of. The two that I STILL have is an Oehler and a Chrony. For "quick and dirty" --- assuming that you can get it through the sky screens and not blow the "main unit" to kingdom come, then then Chrony is my choice.
  
  For absolute positive dead accurate results ---- and "ain't goin-a" blow nothing up but the sky screens

  I had a lay-over in Austin some year back. I took a cab to Oehler and arrived unannounced. None the less, they gave me NOT the nickel tour but the half-dollar tour. I was and still am impressed. It could handle every thing from a sling-shot---to 20 mm, assumming you can keep it off of the sky screens.
