This is the ask the experts forum so I would think it is appropriate here. I am no expert but I have big hands and the glock feels better to me than the 1911 model pistol. That coupled with the fact I have owned glocks since I was 17, and never have personally had one jam on me(my g/f is the only person I have ever seen a glock jam on it was the G27 and I fired it and it has never jammed on me but I think she is limp wristing it, I put a hogue grip on it and made her hold it tighter and it hasn't been doing it); makes me say glock. 0 -

Suna.... There is nothing wrong with your question in this forum, and most of us dont hold misspelled words against you. We all make typing errors now and then. The idea for this forum is to help answer questions and educate folks about firearms.
I have used both Glocks and XD's. They both have their pros and cons.
It is pretty much a matter of personal preference, ie, what feels good in your hand, what you shoot well, what is in your price range etc.
I own a bunch of Glocks and use them in competition, and at work, and love them.
XD's have some features Glocks dont, like a grip safety, and loaded chamber indicator.

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude. I meant that the simple question of which is preferred should be asked in the General Discussion Forum. If the question was asked in a more detailed manner, I wouldn't have said anything. Furthermore, I shoot an XD Tactical in .40 cal and love it. I especially like the fact that a DAO finally has a grip safety. 0 -
I've never shot an XD, so take it for what it's worth, I have shot several Glocks and If I had No other choices I'd take a Glock. IMO the XD has too much crap on it and is too large, the subcompact ought to be called something else cause it sure as heck ain't compact. If you want a glock clone check out The FN Forty-Nine. 0 -
You're right about the sub-compact. When handling it, it actually seems like the slide is larger than the Service or Tactical models. The FN is a good gun as well. 0 -
I have both, I like both. To make apples to apples I'm comparing my Glock 22 to my Springfield XD40. I honestly consider them on about the same level. I get the same accuracy out of both. They seem to be equally reliable. I haven't had any problems from either. I've shot them about the same, they seem to be wearing about the same. The only signifigant differences. The finish on my XD seems to wear more than that on my glock. But when I bought it, my XD was about $100 cheaper. I think for the money the XD is a better buy. It has more features which some will say is good and some will say is bad. One thing I do like is the front and rear dove tailed sights.
But all in all I believe that they are both excellent duty capable weapons.0 -
I think the advantage of the Glock has the higher overall market support, long term proven reliability and all aftermarket accessories. If all you need or want is magazines there's no problem, but otherwise you might want to consider a Glock, which is also offered in a greater variety of calibers and models.

No I know you wasn't. But honestly I think posting anything in the general forum doesn't get the proper attention it deserves vs. being posted in here. Most of the "experts" to my knowledge occupy this forum.
And Glocks also have a loaded chamber indicator.0
