11-87 premeir

I was just wondering if the the newer 11-87's are back board . thanks in advance.

  This doesn't answer your ? but..forget about the 11-87. It is an antiquated, heavy and cumbersome design. I shot one duck hunting for a decade, but once I got a benelli, I never looked back.
  
  It was a great gun in its day, but that day was almost two decades ago. Not so much that it is old, the 1911 design is still great, but the 11-87 gas operated design with the bulbous forend and 8+ pounds is too heavy for upland game, and the design too weather prone and unreliable for the duck hunter. Remington needs to wake up.

  Well I also used one for duck hunting and I really like it. But I picked up a 11-87 premeir and wanted to use it for sporting clay's and maybe a little trap shooting. Just wanted to know if they are backboared heard that make's the recoil a little softer.

  I don't think so bolt (and that's back bored, as in "to bore a hole"). However, the 11-87's gas operation and its weight are going to reduce its recoil quite a bit. Drop on a good "limbsaver" recoil pad and you should easily be able to shoot all day long.
  I'll have to agree with Dave that the Benelli is a better gun, and this comes from a guy that has had a lot of shotguns and still owns an 1100 (but in .410) - I sold ALL of my other 12 gauges after a while, every time I headed to the field I always grabbed the Benelli, so having others just seemed pointless.
  BTW, I wasn't being critical with the spelling, just mentioned it in jest mostly... [:I]
