    You have to have a .22 mag receiver, then you can buy an aftermarket barrel such as Volquartsen to convert it to .17 HMR. I don't recall whether the magazines are the same or not, but I think they are.

    Green River, Clarke, Butler Ceek all make 10-22Magnum switch barrels for the 17HMR.
    Since the 17 is just a 22WMRF with a smaller bullet, both will fit and feed in the 77/22Magnum magazine (which is the same as the 10-22Mag magazine).
    BUT, you have to have the 10-22Magnum to start with.
