Savage Model 101 question

Does someone out there own or have access to a Savage Model 101 singleshot 22 handgun, the one that has a one-piece receiver and barrel that flip open to the right for loading when the hammer is partly cocked? My question: Is there supposed to be a fake gate on the right side? I'm looking at a Model 101 that has an indentation where it seems there should be a gate for cosmetic purposes, but all it has is some screw threads. Is a gate missing? Other than that, the gun is like new, with original box and paperwork. Please advise. Thanks.

  In the NRA "Firearms Assembly" book, there is a IPB and photo of the Savage 101. No loading gate or threaded holes are shown. The hammer and trigger are mounted on pins rather then screws. There is a small hole directly undeneath the dummy cylinder, this appears to be a "vent" hole that is utilized when the blind hole for the trigger spring plunger is drilled.
