AK-74 question (s)

I have a SAR-1. I love it. I will never sell it. Reliable, never misfires, or jams. I have heard a lot about the AK-74 which given the dwindeling supplies, makes me think I should buy one sooner rather than later. Eventually I want one. How about it? Is there a good reason to take the financial plunge now rather than later given supplies of new SAR-2s and their required 30 round mags? Or am I just being hard sell by people who want to sell me one? Mag availability? Which is best? How about ammo> I think I can find 5.45x39 ammo easier than I could a couple years ago. Is that correct? And how does the Assault weapons ban play with all this? I think it may not be renewed, but does that mean that Romanians will be starting up SAR-2 production again? Not affordable, now, but soon. Should I hurry or wait?

  Given the current political climate, once the good folk of this forum tip you off to a quality make or makes, you'd better get going and buy one before Bush & Co. decide they want to expand as well as extend that delightful "Assault Weapons" ban that's due to sunset next year.

  I agree with TR on this one. Get one while the getting is good. That AW bill could go either way. Sure it will sunset but what will be passed before or after it?

  Get a SAR2 while you can.. Super accurate shots better than my 2 ar-15's or the AK47's. But still a 150meter gun, dont expect to shot 300+ meters with accuracy.

  They are great shooters. I would always buy one (a gun) sooner than later.
