I am looking at buying an A5 and have found one I am interested in buying. The gun was bought in 1999 and the owner says not sure if belgium or jap so I will assume that it is a jap, the gun has a 26" barrel with the 3 chokes that came with the gun and is in excellent condition. It is also the magnum capable of shooting the 3" shells and the pistol grip on the wood stock is rounded. I live in the Houston,TX area and will have to have the gun shipped from LA. How much do yall think a fair price would be for this particular gun. Thanks, Joe.

I'm no an expert, but I heard somewhere the round knobs were discontinued about 1967, which would mean it's a Belgian. Is there any way you can look at the barrel markings to determine it's origin?
I can't say what it might be worth, but look in the GB auctions and you'll get a ballpark idea.
    Oh, welcome aboard...

I have a similar question. I have a Belgian made 1969 a-5 20 ga Mag. I am looking for a Belgian modified choke, vent rib barrel for it, but I'm not sure what they are really worth. I have seen some on the auctions go for as low as $180 quoted as being in great condition, but then some of the auctions start as high as $295. What is reasonable?

    Islander,
    Welcome to the forum.
Cabela's sells new barrels with invector choke tubes for around $300.
(check your catalog, if you have one)
They are advertised as Browning made, so I would assume the quality to be on par with other Browning items. Finding exactly what you want may take a little time, but GB is the place to find it.

JJ, Welcome to the forum. It is a Japanese Magnum 12, I think the Invector Plus choke system. Probably add $50.00 for shipping and FFL participation that you wouldn't incur if you bought locally but this is largely offset buy the sales taxes you might otherwise pay locally. You didn't say so I'll guess that this gun is bright blue & wood-stocked as opposed to black synthetic (Stalker)
Joe, it's always hard to say unless one is prepared to buy but that gun is probably in the $500 to $700 range. There must certainly be several traded at GB to give one a idea as to real-worl values. I think I made a good buy on an A5 Mag12 Stalker at $500 because I've seen them go for more than $700. Also, it was the only one I had ever owned. No one in my group has one. I liked its looks. You are not likely to be disappointed with the gun. Add to all that how bad do you want it? How soon do you want it? How nice has it got to be? Is it precisely the gun you want? Its certainly a cliche but it is worth exactly only what a buyer and seller agree to.

I bought the gun and lucked out the guy had someone coming to my part of town so that saved me shipping and FFL fees. Thanks to all for the info. The gun looks and shoots great.
