Magazine restrictions in this state are covered in detail in Penal Code section 12020(19) through 12020(32). In a nut shell the sale or transfer of magazines and other feeding devices holding over 10 rounds is prohibited, except for fixed tube magazines for .22 rimfires. High capacity magazines are not banned or illegal in California but no more can be imported, transfered, or sold-- you can keep what you already owned prior to the cut off date. There is a wonderful exception to this law for dealers like myself so if the fellow on the receiving end of the magazine sale is a FFL dealer and has his state issued magazine purchase permit (if he has it he'll glady send you a copy) then there is no problem making a sale. LEO's in this state can only purchase high capacity magazines from California FFL dealers so police officers are not allowed to receive high capacity magazines from out of state sources...only dealers may do this.
