Franchi semi-auto

looking for some help with my Franchi shotgun
not cycling properly... fire first round,ejects
ok and feeds second round into chamber, however
when second round is fired it hangs up in receiver
and third round cannot feed.

if anyone has experience with this type shotgun and
knows what is causing the problem, i sure could use
the help...

    First, is it a gas gun or a recoil gun? Franchi makes both.

    Second, does this NEVER occur on the first round and ALWAYS on the second round, or is this a one-time event so far?

    Is this the Franchi based off the Benelli recoil operated, rotating bolt? What type of ammo (high or low brass, what oz load?)

    it is an older shotgun, recoil operated, when fired
    the bolt and barrel travel to the rear, it is the
    barrel that actually causes the mag shell catch to
    release another round from the magazine..

    am using high brass federal shells, normal off
    the counter stuff, 6 oz shot..

    only does its thing after firing the second round,
    that is what has me so stumped...

    Have you changed ammo recently? There are tension rings mounted over or under the recoil spring that have to be set properly depending on the ammo. If you've gone to a weaker load, check them.

    yes to having the barrel off, thought i had reinstalled it
    properly,, but maybe not... can you tell me in more detail
    about these tension rings..what am i looking for and how
    to adjust...

    They're rings around the shaft that passes through the recoil spring. They will be either under the spring or over it. I don't know the details of where they should be for light loads, but I took mine out completely and it does fine.

    thanks for the follow-up... when talking recoil spring, are
    you refering to the barrel recoil spring or the bolt recoil
    spring.. on my barrel recoil spring , i have only what Numrich
    refers to as friction rings... have not taken off stock to get
    at bolt recoil spring to check that..

    I was referring to the friction rings. If they're on top of the barrel recoil spring, they retard the action. I expect it will work if you put them under the spring or take them out. Don't lose them as I have mine. You might want to fire some hotter shells sometime.
