J.G. Anschutz info?
I have a .22 bolt action rifle on the top it reads" J.G. Anschutz GmbH. Waffenfabrik Ulm/D. Germany. On left side of barrel it reads" Cal. .22 long rifle rim-fire combination" after that between two scroll marks is the # 62. The rear of the bolt has a knob which spins freely. "N" is on the front top of bolt and Anschutz is stamped on the reciver also, the #'s 388432. LOOKING FOR ANY INPUT ON WHAT IT IS AND VALUE? I went through 3 dealers and all my shooter bibles and value books. HELP!

Hummmmm....Just pulled up J.G. Anschutz, Zella Mehlis, Germany 1922-1938, 1945 to date in Ulm, West Germany..also for Rifle listings see Savage Arms Company...
Just looked at what Savage had to say...Seems that Anschutz made a Model 10, .22 L.R.R.F. Bolt Action Target Rifle...You might want to do a little further research with Savage....The Gun is worth $250.00....
Good Lord...ANSCHUTZ made a Dozen Rifles for the Savage Company..just looked up the Savage Company in BALDERSONS Official Antique and price Guide...Its gotta be the best book on the market...You'll in all likelyhood find your gun listed with the Savage/Anschutz Rifles....

Anschutz has actually been around since the mid-1800's.
Your particular rifle was made after 1950, when they reformed and began using the 'GMBH' designation in their trademark. I suspect that there are no importer markings on the rifle... Sile imported Anschutz in the late 1950's-early 1960's, then Savage began importing certain models under the Savage-Anschutz name.
The rifle Capt Kirk is referring to is more properly the 'Mark 10' which was one of those fancy heavy-stocked competition target jobs. The Anschutz 64 was a single-shot sporter in .22LR made from 1963-1981. Anschutz also made some plain single-shot 'sporters' like the one pictured below:
Sounds like your rifle is one of those models not regularly imported into the US, so there is no official 'book' that lists it. Gotta go with sales of similar models to establish value.0 -
Thanks, Kirk, I was advised on the Savage connection, but Savage is not on the gun as Country stated, thats correct. The gun pictured is almost identical except the stok is much more primitive looking. Again, thanks two both of you! 0
