Fair asking price?
A pawn shop has a F/N Mauser action with a medium barrel {i dont know barrel contuours} in 6mm it has a older unmarked Redfield scope with an AO also a nice looking wood stock, Overall condition of the rifle appears about 85% he is asking $469 but will take $400 plus tax, I think he is too high what do yall think?

On most of these sporter type rifles you are actually just purchasing the action and the stock since the barrels don't count for much unless they are from a known maker. The Redfield "plain Jane" scope is a toss in as these add little to the over all value to the package. In 85% condition even $400 sounds far too high to me.

I think more along the line of 250-300. While this may be a great shooting gun and out preform any major brand name. They ust don't carry the resale value. Not to say he won't get his price, it just won't sell as fast. If he had the same thing in a used Remington 700, which would you walk out the door with? 0 -
Other questions to be answered are weather or not the receiver/action is a commercial or a military rework? What kind of trigger, FN commercial or a two stage? The trigger quard, is it military or commercial hinged? The safty housing, streamlined or? Is the stock acceptable for your end use, how about the caliber? If it is a military rework and has not had major upgrades then the price is way high. If it is a commercial action and the stock, caliber and barrel are acceptable, I would still try for $350, but could live $400 if it shoots well. Charles Dayly is importing, or will agin soon be, what use to be the Mark X actions from Yugoslavia for about $250 new. The barreled actions in your choice of calibers are about $100 more. 0 -
