I just got willed a remington shotgun from my granddad who passed away; after talking with remington, i was informed that I have a model 1900 12 gauge side-by-side shotgun, that was produced in 1902. this gun is as new, never fired. it has a small damaged spot on the butt-end of the stock is all. any idea what something like this would be worth?? i am not a scatter-gun person, any info would help! thanks 0 -
I'd have to agree with Henry on this one... Heirlooms are priceless. Unless you weren't all that close to him I'd sure keep 'em. 0 -

I COMPLETELY agree with the other fellows on this. If your Grandfather thought enough of you to will you a fine old shotgun like that one, you should have some respect for both him and the gift![:(!] If you absolutely feel like you have to sell it, at least offer it to someone else in his immediate surviving family. Finally, I really doubt that it is "unfired" (especially since it has indications of damage from normal use)... and it is/was a working man's shotgun.

please understand, i would only trade/sell this gun to a family member if ever at all; i am just curious what something like it was worth. as for the unfired status, i see a light "wax-coat" in the barrel that grandpa told me about. i pushed one side out with a bore brush, and this bore in brand new; never fired. the damage occured when the gun stood butt-end down, in a closet where the hot water heater had broken, and stained the stock pretty badly. if grandad said it's never been in the field, then i believe him. my grandma (still alive) says he won this gun at a department store. thanks for all your info - nitro 0 -

The damage to the stock puts a real hard dent in the value even with the rest of the gun being in "as new" condition. I would estimate it will reduce the value from about $1,000 down to about $500 - $600 (the difference being about what it will cost to have a replacement made & fitted).

Despite what some of the books have, the 1900 was an economy version of the 1894 not an improved version. Even the Blue Book has this right now. They sold side by side. There are no engraved high grade versions of the 1900. Value will also depend on whether or not it has ejectors (an E in the model number). Perhaps the stock can be cleaned up because it would cost a lot to restock it. 0 -
