the grips MAY be original..my only concern is the difference in the proof stamp on the slide and the frame..course it may have been my eyes[8D]

If no one knows off the top of their head, can you point me in the right (or approximate) direction to go to? I'm starting to think I may have taken advantage of seller

The P proof mark on the slide and frame should match exactly. Original gun would have a parkerized finish in 1945. Value is as a shooter only. About $250 to $400 depending on condition.

thanks for the info Hunter, that's exactly what I found out from another source just now. Can't say that it hurts my feelings though, is one of THE most comfortable guns I've ever held! Now I just have to do something about that flashy chrome finish!

    Thanks again

If the finish is nickel you can have it stripped and re-parkerized.

I had one done in FL at Ford's custom.

Beware that they had to polish it to plate it and some of the lettering will not show up once it's parked.

Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun has!

Thanks MM...I think what I might do is just replace the slide w/a parkerized version...give it kind of a two-toned appearance

In any case, at $200 for a nice shooter 1911, you sure didn't get hurt any.
