you would probly be better off with the sar because wasr's lives basically started out as a single mag design that i guess were cut by the importer and the dimmesions are really not right i have heard complaints about high capacity mags noit fitting in them while there have been no reports of this in the sar's i own 4 sar's myself and have no complaints

the thing that scares me is that we could be living in someone else's own reality

If you can find one at a reasonably price, a lot of people swear by the SAR ... as pointed out by dotcom_guy30 these are setup for a propritaty 10 round mag - some have been modified to accept full capacity mags and most of those are poorly done. Also the SAR comes in the typical AK configuration while (I believe) the WASR comes in a Drogonov(sp?) / thumbhole style stock

The SAR's are the better of the two. I personally have had to work on some of the WASR's to get them to accept mags correctly. As for the Dragunov stock, the new ones will be coming with the thumbhole Dragunov type stock. The importer can no longer sell them with the pistol grip and regular stock. This is a recent change. Some of the distributors will have the older ones with the regular stock and some will have the dragunov type. The gov't recently changed its mind regarding muzzle brakes (L1A1, Cetme, G-3 etc.)and on the AK's the pistol grip stock. At least the Romanian guns from Century are affected at this time. You'll find the G-3's and the Cetme's are no longer coming with the muzzle brake. They don't look right without it either. As for the Dragunov stock, you can't reach the trigger unless you are ET, with 4" long fingers.

i have the romanian sar-1 and am very pleased. you can get them for around 300.00 through the mail, or 375-400 at the shop. the first thing to do would be to get a red star trigger. you wont believe the diff!!. no trigger slap at all. they are truely fun weapons to shoot.

Till I see some proof from the ATF, I really doubt that.

I think Century decided that they could use up all those old thumb hole stocks they had in their inventory and has decided that it would be cheaper to buy the guns sans the stocks. Concerning the muzzle brakes, ever peer into a Century attached muzzle braked barrel? I have & noticed that there was a pin sticking up into the barrel. Talk about handgrenade waiting to happen!!!

I think Century finally realized that it's "gunsmiths" couldn't attach a muzzle brake if they wanted to. I almost bought a Cetme till I saw that pin sticking into the barrel. I told the shop about it & they called their distributer RSR to try to get me a good rifle with out the pin protruding into the barrel. All of RSR's inventory had the same problem.

I bought a Sar1 instead of the Cetme and have been very happy with it.
