    I have a 25-35 winchester W.C.F with octogone barrel serrial number 8013222 and was wondering what year it was made. and if it was a colletable . thanks

    Need a model number and your serial number is wrong, 8 million? don't think it's right. The main thing is condition, condition and condition, rust, pits, gouged wood all detract from the value. So once you provid Model number, right serial number, condition and barrel lenght. Either I or one of the other Winchester buffs can help you. the 25-30 is the cartridge size of the gun, not the Model. look behind the hammer on the metal tang if you do not see it on the barrel.     My guess is that it is a Winchester Model 1894 with a serial number of 801322. If so, DOM is 1916. As far as I know, only the Model 1894/94 (and it's sibling the Model 55), and the Model 1885 Single-shot were ever factory chambered for the 25-35 W.C.F. cartridge.

    The next piece of information needed from you, is the specific variation of the Model 1894 you have (e.g. Rifle or Carbine). I am betting that it is a Rifle based on the octagon barrel, and it should be 26" in length.

    Generally speaking, all "true" Model 1894 "Rifles" are quite collectable... if they are still 100% factory original (i.e. no extra holes drilled in them, not reblued/refinished, barrel still the original length, etc.). Condition is important as well, as those specimens that retain greater percentages of the original factory finish are both more sought after and worth more. However, to make a point, a factory original Model 1894 Rifle with only 20% of its factory finish remaining is still worth more than a refinished Rifle with 100% of the refinish.

    Winchester ceased production of the original "Rifle" variation sometime around 1930, making them considerably rarer than the Carbine. The presence of any factory special order options (e.g. Takedown, pistol grip butt stock {Deluxe}, checkered stocks, non-standard barrel lengths, set trigger, upgraded sights, etc.) will make it even more collectable (and valuable).

    The Gun is a rifle with a 26" barrel modle 1894 has a weaver KV side mount scope .The wood is all orginal barrel and recever orginal never refinish .The lever safty device looks like it has been built up do to ware.rifelings clean and deep.looked for other serial # but did not find

    can't add much more than Bert, except with the new info:
    20% condition, $425
    50% " $650
    90% " $1125
    Add 20% for take down md, add 20% for delux md, add 15 % for being a 25-35 WCF
    Subtract 10-30% for KV side mount. Hope this helps

    Go to the auction link I have inserted, as it contains a good picture of a Model 1894 Takedown. Take note that the the forward end of the receiver has a seam between the takedown ring and the frame.
