N.R. Davis & Sons "DIANA"
I have a single shot 20ga. shotgun. It is stamped "N.R. Davis & Sons 'DIANA'" Below that says "Davis Warner Arms Co., Norwich, Conn." It is in good working order. With the exception of the recoil pad, everything appears original. The wood has some wear and the bluing is worn. I would appreciate any info you could supply.

I find a Davis-Warner Arms Co.
that made an automatic pistol
back in 1917-1919,but nothing on
a shotgun made by that company.

Just pulled out "Flaydermans"
Davis,N.R.& Co.Circa 1880's-early 1900's.
Eventually absorbed by Crescent-Davis Arms Co.
(including Crescent Firearms Co.,q.v.)
Ultimately taken over by the Stevens Arms &
Tool Co. of Massachusetts circa 1930's.
That's all it says about it.

N.R. Davis & Co. were in Freetown MA, from 1853-1917. They merged with Warner Co. of Norwich, Conn. and Became Davis-Warner Arms Co. The company was not active between 1920 and 1922, but in 1930 Started again as Crescent-Davis Arms Co., Norwich. This included Crescent Firearms Co. They relocated to Springfield MA in 1931-32 and were taken over in 1932 by Stevens Arms. They manufactured a single model of single barreled shotgun as far as I can tell, which may have sold under several names/model numbers. These were utilitarian shotguns manufactured in some numbers. In excellent condition around $100 today, more like $50 in only very good condition. This shotgun has an external hammer, right?

Thanks for the info. Yes, it does have an external hammer. I didn't figure it's value would be very much. For me, it's more the history behind it. It belonged to my either my great-great grandfather or my great grandfather. So its been in the family for many, many years. And still shoots like new.
