What is made in Brazil for Springfield is made to Springfield's specifications. So I would say they are as good as any Springfield made in this country. Remember, there are some excellent guns made in Brazil...such as Taurus and Rossi.

    My humble opinion,

I might add: I think the Springfield 1911 pistol is of very good quality. It is as good as the current Colt 1911's.

    More of my humble opinion,

Its like getting anything fabricated, you can have it done at any metal shop in the world. Its just a component. Its the fitting process that really makes the difference.

I mean honestly, if it wasn't stamped on the metal, you'd never know or even care that they were fabricated in brazil.

You be supprised how many parts and components for American manufactured guns are fabricated over seas where labor is cheaper. Were living in a global marketplace.

Springfield guns come with a lifetime warranty to if that helps you out any. And the two I have are good shooters, I had to take them up on the warranty a few years back on my 1911 V-10 ultra compact, it was only gone for about eight days if I remember and I've never had a problem since. (the gun kept snaping swing links) it happened twice.

Most of the Gun Tests magazines rank Springfield as the #2 .45 maker based on quality, workmanship , customer service . Kimber is #1. That should tell you something.

Let's see... Springfield, Taurus, Rossi... I think they do some damn fine work, there.

Yes the parts are made in Brazil. They're then shipped to IL and assembled there. Quality is fine. Fit and finish on their base guns isn't as good as Kimber, but then again, they're a lot cheaper. I prefer to buy Springfields and modify them myself rather than pay more for a Kimber, but that's just me.
