25-40 KRAG dies,brass,ammo
Got 25-40 Krag dies, brass, loaded ammo in swap..This is a wildcat right? Where should I advertise it to sell it? About 150-200 rounds total...

Not too big a market for this caliber but I would put it up at gunbroker as a lot or on ebay.

I had thought that it might not be kool to respond to this , but it was a very old posting ; and has anyone even tried to find these dies before ? It's about as a much possibility as it is that he actually still has the dies from 10+ years ago ! I did a search on the site in things for sale in this caliber and a big fat ZERO , not a thing ! 0 -

The dies are commonly known as 25 Krag. Since it's a non- standardized "Wildcat" cartridge. There is no assurance that the sizing die will form the brass correctly, so that it will chamber in your rifle. Custom die makers like RCBS & C & H. Require cartridges that have been fired in your rifle to make the full length sizing die.
If your seriously intending in reloading for the .25 Krag? I would go that route. Send C & H or RCBS fired brass from your rifle. So that they can make custom sizing and seating dies.

You will have to have the barrel "slugged" and a "chamber cast" made, before doing anything else. If you are not familiar with these two processes? Take the rifle to a competent gunsmith, to have it done. Right now you are just flying blind. You don't know the bore diameter of the barrel, or chamber dimensions.0 -
Thank You for that information , as I am not even sure of the variation of this cartridge that I have as the barrel is completely unmarked . Rifle is a Winchester 1895 and barrel seems to have been recycled from another rifle , possibly a military one as there is a notch cross wise for a pin or screw , like for a barrel band just a few inches from the muzzle . I just recently had bought the rifle here off of an auction # 377554162 on GunBroker . 0 -
Try posting in the want ads. As an kid Dad had one on Krag action. It shot really good with cast bullets.
