Info on old Family muzzleloaders
I would like some info on the following muzzleloaders that once belonged to my great granddad.
Gun #1: "Conestoga Rifle Works" stamped in brass on right side plate, has some engraving that is worn off. It is a single octagon barrel, approx. 30", rifled, possibly .40 cal., with divits about size of pencil lead on muzzel end. Stock goes to end of barrel. Percussion cap, double trigger, hammer on rt. Has brass butt plate, trigger guard, tip at end of stock & front sight.
Gun #2: "Dean" stamped on both side plates, has design on edges. Double barrel 12ga. muzzleloader with approx. 33" barrels. Percussion caps. "London Fine Twist" stamped on top between barrels. "13", script "B" and other marks, possibly 2 crossed hatchets with crown above stamped on bottom of both barrels under stock. There are 3 "hatchets" per barrel. All are unevenly spaced. On tip of stock is an arrowhead shaped piece of metal pointing to back of stock on bottom. There is also a steel butt plate and cross-hatching on stock.
Gun #3: "Pennsylvania Rifle Works" stamped on top of barrel and on hammer plate on rt. Also has fern leaf design on each end of words. Possibly .32 cal. with approx. 37" octagon barrel. Hammer on rt with percussion cap. Hammer has vine design engraved. Rear of plate has 2 flying ducks and cattails. Front of plate has vine design. There is a brass front sight & butt plate. Muzzle end of stock has brass plate, dual triggers, brass trigger guard, 3" "extension" on bottom of stock - similar to Monte Carlo stock. Butt end top of stock is rounded, bottom flat. Muzzel end of barrel is stamped with 9 - 8pt. stars around muzzel. Back end of barrel is hand stamped "DR" along with some markings that can't be read. Possibly "S SISL RIFLE". Also pin plate that fastens barrel to stock is scratched "1856".

[1790's to 1830's...Value depends upon actual Condition...
Pennsylvania Rifle Works---G. Dunlap, Operator, Percussion Period [1835 thru 1850's] Maker of "hardware Store" Guns..
I'll have to do some deeper research to see if I can locate anything on Gun # 2....

The DEAN is possibly an English made Gun...The Hatchet's over the Crown could be Birmingham Proofs....I can find No Dean listed in my Book of English Makers...Possible but not likely Belguim...Check under the Rear of the Breech end of the Barrels and see if there is an Oval with the Letters E over LG in the Center.....0
