Can someone i.d. this round?
The wife was out "saleing", and found this in a box.
Paid nothing for it, it is rim fire,aol,1.295,bullet dia,.505,
rim dia. .657, body dia. .565. any clue? Thanks, Rick

I'll stick my neck out and say that it's fairly close to the "50 Remington Navy" cartridge. The dimentions you give are off slightly from the specs I have, but thats not uncommon. I don't have a photo to compare it to, so thats my best guess.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
Think You have a .56-46 Spencer Round....Nice to have for the Conversation...Not worth much in the Condition its in...A collector would use it for a filler until something Better showed up to take its place...Shadow Box it behind Glass and display it on the Wall or on the Mantle..This Cartridge was 1st produced in 1866.....

This is where we could really use Icconclast but I have not seen him post in over a month! In going to go out on a limb and say that it is one of the Spencer rimfires- probably a 56-50. These were loaded here in the United States until just after WWI so they must be at least somewhat common. The pictures that you posted are outstanding and if one of our true cartridge experts gets a look at them identification should be a snap.

Believe Tailgunner is correct. According to "Cartridges of the World", the dimensions you gave are closest to the 50 Rem. Navy. 0 -
50 Remington Navy was/is a Straight Case....The Cartridge in question is a Tapered case.....

Hey, am I missing something? I don't think you have a rimfire case there, but maybe a Ben?t cup primed one.
Most likely .50 Navy. As said, that neck is just incidental to neck tension. Is the case about .895" long?

Looks like a 455 webley. Dont have the dimensions. 0 -
It's a centerfire Benet inside primed round. Those indentations above the rim are crimp marks to hold the primer in place.
My references are in storage with all our stuff so I can't help I.D.
the round but it's an early one predating boxer and Berdan priming. My guess is early 1870s.0
