I believe the Colt black powder 2nd gen models were Italian made in a semi finished state then exported to Colt where they were fitted, finished and blued by Italian craftsmen who were imported by Colt for the purpose. They are very well made, faithfull reproductions.
If they were finished in Italy they would have had to carry Italian Government proof marks.
If the pistol is Colt marked it's one of these

I had a 1st mdl. Dragoon, 2nd generation, which I sold to a friend. New in box, papers, etc., I think your gun should be worth probably $500. I'll do a little more checking, but I believe v35 is correct in that the parts were finished here in the States. You can do a search on this site and AA for going prices; they show up periodically.Emery

I found out a little more info; the parts were assembled and finished by Iver Johnson, who were in Arkansas. Your Colt was made in 1977. Emery

One other thing, if you shoot your gun, it will seriously affect the value. If you don't care, if you got it reasonably, etc. then go have fun with it. If you want to save it for an investment, put a cable tie around the hammer, don't even cock the hammer. Even a tiny mark on the cylinder will affect the value. Emery
