Bulgarian Makarov

just received a bulgarian makarov from sog the safety is real hard to work had everything apart including the firing pin because it came packed in cosmoline i noticed a tiny spring under the safty catch is the problem or do i need to replace the catch also?

  I have heard alot about these Makarov's, does anyone out there have any information on these pistols. I am also looking for a chart that shows the difference in the cartridge sizes. Does standard 9mm ammo fit these? What is the 9X18 or 9X19mm?

  It came caked in packing grease or cosmoline. And after a thurough cleaning and proper lubrication, it shot great. Impressive actually for the money spent on it. The trigger was a little tougher than I'da liked. The finish showed some minor wear, no rust or pitting. The bore was fine. About the only thing I think it needs is a trigger job and an Armor Kote.

  I have several. Incredibly simple, accurate and reliable lil guns. I swapped on an aftermarket rubber grip on one, and now it's my primary CCW. Used it for the state carry permit range test, scored 100%. Finish isn't stellar, but want do you want for $150?

  chunkstyle, your not the first person I've talked to who has gone to the makarov as their primary ccw weapon. Quite a few individuals who I run into at the local gun club admit to it. With the proper choice in ammunition, I was amazed at the capability of the little gun. And its size, relaibility, and accuracy just seem to make it an ideal adoption for a ccw weapon. Also the fact that it is affordable makes it alot more inticing to entry level shooters.
