Worth anything ? What is it ?
Ok, so I see I dont know how to post a photo here so this is going to be hard to explane, but Ill try. Ok, this thing is a 22lr, or 5.4 mm. Its ia a single shot rifle from Germany. It has a " D " on the stock, but it looks like a cat or somthing sitting, and his tail is the main part of the D. Some other markings are....

5.4mm....and the hallmark, I dont know what it is, but its over a 'B'.
And the "D" is on the stock and the breech. It loads by opining the breech upwards and inserting a single round. I suck ass at explaing things so I know its gona be hard for any help but who knows. I have a few crapy web cam pics of it if anyone could help me out a little I can send pics. My email is FastTalon69@aol.com. It sounds to me as though you have come across an Ortgies single shot .22 rifle. There were also some single shot shotguns produced which used the same style action and most of these were chambered for the old 9mm shot shells, once quite popular in Europe. I happen to be a VERY SERIOUS collector of the Ortgies pistols- having owned about 20- but the long guns are somewhat of a mystery to me. The few Ortgies rifle which I have come across appeared rather well used and most were priced in the $100-$150 range. There appeares to be limited interest in the Ortgies long guns among collectors but you just might find a willing buyer if you put your mind to it and if you price it right.

Deutsche-Werke was in business for about 15 years. From just after W W I to the early 1930's. There most noted for producing Ortgies Pistols. The rifle such as yours isn't common. The trademark you described is actually supposed to be a stylised lion.
I personally believe that their was some connection between the Deutsche-Werke and the Erma companies. They were located in the same city in Germany. Erma seemed to go into business just as Deutsche-Werke was folding. Erma made a #2, .22 rifle but it was a conventional bolt action.0
