Nylon 66 without serial #

I have a Nylon 66 Apache black with chrome without any serial #. It's in great condition and would rate it about 95%. My question is Are the these rifles worth more without the serial #? I sometimes see these rifles for sale on the auction and the seller refers to them as having no serial # as if it were worth more than one with one. Now I know that remington didn't start putting the #'s until a certain year. So is it worth more with or without and by usually how much. Thanks Jeff

  Serial numbers did not have to be used before 1968.As far as having more value I'd say no.

  Since there were over a million of these rifles produced you need to find unusual nitches in order to earn a premium from collectors. The black/chorme examples are less common than the standard rifles (about a quater million produced) so your rifle is worth more based on production numbers. What really brings big money are NIB examples with all of the papers...you just don't see these around all that often. There was a decade of Nylon 66 production before the GCA-68 mandated serial numbers so there are tens of thousands of rifles out there which are not serialized. I would not pay a dime extra for a typical example without a serial number but if we were talking NIB w/papers then a slight premium could be asked and collectors might be willing to pay it.
