Portuguese ammo-Hard Primer? Moved from Gen Disc.
Tried this over in Gen Discussion, I hope to get some other responses here.
Seems that the case of Portuguese ammo I bought for my CETME was not the correct selection. I experianced several misfires (Avg of 2 per mag) and all symptoms seem to point to the primer. Seems that this stuff was manufactured with a very heavy mil. primer cup (possibly for MG ammo?).
I've fired some Radaway Green (Brit.), East Indian, Malaysian, and some Winchester, as well as some 60's and 70's era USGI, all without complaint or a hiccup.
Now that I have about 850 rounds remaining, what do you all suppose the solution is? A new firing pin for the CETME? Re-check headspace and timing? The probable cause outlined below leads me to believe that I may need to polish some of the surfaces in the FCG.

MATT: My suggestion is....Trade off the Ammo You have left and replace it with known Good Ammo...! I would'nt go changing anything with a Weapon that works with 3 or 4 differant Manufacture's Ammo...You might put yourself into a worse Senario...Kapeach..?.......

Yes Cap'n, I understand........but(!) I'd really like to work this problem out for the simple reason that if it's an easy fix that does not affect the performance of other ammo, I'd like for it all to work in this rifle? Does that make sense?
