Slanted roll markings on new Colt slide
Has anyone bought a new Colt with crooked roll markings?
I took delivery of my new O1091: Government 1991 Stainless and
the three lines stamped (roll marking) into the slide are noticeably slanted.
They said "Send it in for inspection".
The Colt web page describes the "XSE SERIES" as having
"New roll marking and enhanced tolerances"
I hope this is not an excuse to accept lower tolerances, as luck would have it, on the weapon I happened to have shipped to me.

God created Adam & Eve.
Look how they screwed up what was perfect.
Extrapolate that to modern day humans making things. Not doubt that mistakes are a 'natural given'.
Personally, would keep it as is. Sending it back will get you the same slide as everyone else.
Right now it's unique, and might add collector value as time, AND knowledge of 'mistakes become better known. Almost like a mistamped coin collectors look for.
I have some orginal Colt Light rifles when they bought Ultra Light Arms. Factory has sent our notices, even certified letters about the potential problems, and recall.
One from my collection will never go back since everything is NIB with all Colt's papers/letters.

I posted pics a while back of a NIB MINI-14 that has a double roll-mark. It's so bad it'll make you cross eyed lookin' at it. Had several offers to buy it, higher than retail but not enough to part with it yet. Right collector might put a smile on your face and extra cash in your pocket.
I had notified Ruger to see if this was unusual, they said it never happened but send it to them to look at.Best advice I had was NOT to send it back to the factory, you'll get a replacement.0 -

Well, the gun came back.
Although the roll markings are still a little off, they may be "in spec.".
They were buffed down a bit so to be not as noticable.
But the tech DID mill the slide stop to perfection and did other things to
"bring the gun into spec".
At the range this weekend,
my instructor said he never felt a crisper trigger on a Colt.
I learned a lot in those 8 hours, cleared up some mistakes which might have become habits. And the Colt? It was putting me in the 9's and X's all morning.[:)][:)][:)]
Nothin' beats a Colt!
