Neal, Thanks for the auction # 198400022 picttures of the Remington 1911A1.
My pistol matches all of them except for one.
In the pics it shows a G on the trigger guard forward right side, mine has a W in that location. Otherwise the could be twin brothers.

  I finally got around to taking two M1's to the range to try your suggestion of swapping parts to determine why one was not cocking after some rounds.
  
  I can tell you we believe we found the problem. It is the lower stock.
  It turns out that it is commerical and not GI. It was not cut out correctly, and after the first shot seems to be binding somewhere. We swapped the trigger group to the other rifle and it worked fine, then we swapped the gas cylinder and finally the stock.

  Charlie, I'm glad you solved the problem. But, it sounds like you solved it IN SPITE of my advice, not BECAUSE of it!
