rock island armory ??

opinions wanted on the rock island armory m1911 45. anyone have any experiance with one? good / bad? please let me know

  My understanding is that these are good basic guns suitable for working up into a custom piece. I normally recommend a Kimber or Springfield for anyone wanting a 1911 as you can't go wrong.

  Fit, finish, & functioning are not up to what I expect from a gun. I have heard many reports of minor problems that required a trip to the gunsmith; they are safe, but often require work for reliable operation.

  I've seen a few, they're comparable to a KBI Charles Daly Gov't Model.
  I believe they're made in the Philippines as are the Charles Daly models. From what I've heard they work although they're kind of rough around the edges. Like others said, some require work to function reliably.[8D]

  Made in the Philippines-dealer cost now below $300.00. Some refer to them "Crock Island". I would not allow a "friend" to purchase one.
  Believe but uncertain, that they will not manufacture in the future.

  I HAVE SOLD 200 UNITS OF THESE ROCKISLAND ARMORY BY ARMSCORE I HAVE HAD 3 COME BACK FOR REPAIR AND WERE FIXED WITH IN A DAY.I HAVE SHOT THESE GUNS THOUSANDS OF ROUNDS. YES IT IS A BEGINERS GUN THAT CAN BE BUILT UP BUT A KIMBER OR SUCH DOES NOT RETAIL FOR 375.00
