    Your dad was correct in calling the .38 a Combat Masterpiece. That is what S & W called both the .38 and .22 in this configuration before they started numbering the models. When they started the numbers the .38 Combat Masterpiece became the model 15 and the .22 version became a model 17 which was available in 4", 6" & 8 3/8" barrels. I can't provide any valid price information but I would $350 or so for the .22 and a little less for the .38.

    .38 mfg. 1966 and the .22 should be 1955.Hershel is about right with the values.
