mini 14 sights
Hey I have a ruger mini 14 and I kinda wana change the sight apeture in the back. I really prefer a open sight something like the leaf sight on the ruger 10/22. I know i could take an appeture and cut the top off and effectively make an open sight myself but im sure i have seen a replacement bald to replace the old apecture with a open more like what I want. Anyone seen one of thes ebefore or know where I could get one if not ill prolly just get a spare one and modify it how i want it. Also i piked this rifle up used its got one of those scope mounts that mount on the side bye screwing into a difrent side plate than the standard one. Anyways this sight mount isnt very stable and i would like to replace it with one that just mounts directly to the receiver threw a could driled and taped holes. I have see a rail for it that attaches on the top but this would make it so i cant use the iron sights on it. I like the style thats on it now where it mounts on the side and rises up and leaves the iron sites opne andybody know if someone makes one that mounts directly to the receiver on the side and will still alow use of the iron sights thanks.

I recently purchased a mini 14 . ilike the rifle but have a problem with the sights. is there a better sight for the mini 14 that gives you a better sight picture and better reference up on accuring the target. the blade on the front really does not give a good refference like a bead or dot or even a notch. any ideas as to how a person might remedy with out scoping? Thanks Steve 0 -
There are a few companies that offer ghost ring sights for the
Mini-14 and other firearms as well........
The question is do you have a Mini-14 Ranch Rifle or a regular Mini-14?

Mine is the other type not the ranch rifle. I understand about the frontsight and that was my thought about replacing it with the one with the muzzle brake on it. I have a leapers scope that is made for the AR 15 with the handle I thought about installing it. does the scope mount that takes no gunsmithing that mounts in the bolt lock cover work very good I see that it might be high enough to see the original sights thru. do they hold position very well? PS what is the difference in the ranch and the "other" 14s 0 -
I have a B-Square mount (same as the one you're asking about) I've never had a problem with it and it holds "zero" for me. I haven't heard of anyone experiencing any difficulties with one either, and yes...it is high enough to see the iron sights.
The difference between the standard Mini-14 and the "Ranch Rifle" is in the type of sights. The "Ranch Rifle" has a flip down/up rear adjustable peep sight and integral scope base mount which accepts Ruger scope rings. These are included with the "Ranch Rifle".
