Ruger 44 mag carbine

I have a Ruger 44 Mag Carbine that jams and won't eject the shells. It was sent to Ruger and they don't make the part it needs anymore. I would like to know what part would it have been and does anyone have any suggestions on how we may fix it.

  Most of the Ruger .44 Mag carbines retail in the $400 range although an early example like yours might well bring a samll premium, especially if you have to box and factory papers. The Weaver K3 scope had a long production run of about 25 years so these are pretty common. I'd figure around $50 to $60 for its value. A Ruger .44 Carbine and a 3X scope makes for a nice fast handling and light weight combination which should be great for taking deer at close ranges and in heavy brush. Someone interested in this type of hunting would no doubt pay you extra for a nice outfit like your Ruger. I hope this helps you.

  I've owned many of these guns, it is one of my favorite classic carbines. Mark gave you real good info (as he always does), however, the market seems to GREATLY change by area. I think it has something to do with the typical distance associated with deer hunting (some areas it's 50 yard average, other places it's 150+ average). I've bought excellent examples like you describe for as little as $295 and as much as $535 for the one pictured below (note the different stock style, they made an International version that had a full-length stock and also the fingergroove sporter as pictured below - these were both made '62-67 I think, then of course the standard stock with the barrel band, metal "recoil pad", & no sling studs)

  When I was young, I, too, worried about how much insurance I should get for my guns.
  
  Then, after seeing several tragedies involving people near me, I realized that there were far greater risks associated with guns than losing the dollars I had invested in them: What if a burglar stole my guns & used them to commit crimes? What if a household member used one of my guns to kill himself? What if a child in my house played with a gun & killed a friend or neighbor? Any of THESE things would have ruined my life.
  
  So, I cancelled my gun insurance & bought a gun safe. My guns are secure, I sleep well at night, & my insurance savings have more than repaid me the cost of the safe.
