hal,
First off,let me welcome you to the forum.
Secondly,I have no experience w/the ssi 30.06
in question, but having owned several Mossbergs
over the years,I(and I think many will agree)
think any Mossberg product is well worth the money
as far as being excellent utilitarian guns.IMHO

hal: As a collector of single shot rifles I own a ssi also in 30-06.I have not fired the gun so I can't say anything about accuracy but the fit and finish and function seem to be adaquate for hunting purposes.By no means is this gun to be confused with a ruger SS or a browning 1885 and certainly not with any guns produced by companies like the Ballard rifle co. Every SS has its place. 0 -
Mossberg guns are nice and well worth the $$ you hand out for them.
Mossberg guns, except for the el-cheapo model (thinking of Maverick model 88 here) are high grade - at least in my book.
Have owned a Mossberg bolt-action rifle in cal. .270Win, a Maverick M-88 pump and a model 835 pump. Been most happy about the 835 though.
But I'm lodged with Benelli for shotguns and Steyr Mannlicher for rifles in the future.
Don't do anything that I've allready done - That'd be just plain STOOOOOOPID.0 -
Mossberg 22's are almost invariably rugged, accurate and non-fussy about ammo. They were inexpensive when produced and even today, with collector attention, are often better values than new, contemporary rifles.
