Hmmm....I can't find a Stevens Model 49 pump .22 in any of my reference materials.
The only Stevens .22 pump rifles I show are the Model 70 (Visible Loader) and a Model 80.0 -
savage made a mod. 29. that fits the description. Geri 0 -
Savage/Stevens made pump rifles all the way back to 1903. Does this rifle have a clip-type magazine or is it fed from a tube magazine under the barrel? How long is the forend? What are ALL the markings on the receiver and barrel? 0 -
Rick.
Savage bought Stevens around 1920. Stevens started making a copy of the Savage 29a. I have seen it marked Stevens 29, Stevens 75, and I have a Stevens 49. It is a Savage 29a. I believe the Stevens 49 is a mis-stamp. The serial number on mine is 230xxk.It was produced from 1932 to the late fifties. Value depends on condition. $250. for a great one $50.00 on a poor one. (mine). Stevens made three pumps the model 80 gallery, model 70 visible, loader and this one.

You can write to : Mr. john Callahan

He is in charge of older Stevens Historical research. Charge is $15 per gun. If Stevens made it he knows it![:p]0 -

Rick.
Tell him to put it on GunBroker and see what he gets for it. He may get alittle more because of the Mis-stamp. Or do a search on Steven's 75's , see what they sold for. That should give him a good idea of the gun's worth.
