    Don't get your hopes up.

First, they only perform this conversion on the customer's carbine. You'd have to ship your carbine to them, wait for the work, & wait for its return; shipping won't be cheap, paperwork won't be easy.

Second, the only significant supply of USGI M1 carbines is outside the US; importation of US military arms is currently prohibited, even if modified. So, don't expect some enterprising foreign arms exporter to try to send a bunch of these to the US.

I'm not sure why anyone would WANT one of these, other than the fact that they look BAD. The .30 carbine cartridge has few practical applications, other than as a plinker or home defense gun. If you are a member of a SWAT team, you probably already have a superior HK MP5.

This weapons system is intended for foreign militaries who still hold considerable stocks of US M1 carbines. There was a time when these countries could simply sell their rifles to US based importers for re-sale in the United States and earn a nice profit. As Neal mentioned, the reimportation of surplus US military weapons is currently prohibited. You would have to get an export license from the Department of State to send your personal carbine to Isreal for modification and then use an approved ATF Form 6 to have it shipped back into the United States. Sadly, once your carbine has been modified it will become a military style "assault weapon"-- detachable magazine, flash hidder, and pistol grip, a type which has been prohibited from importation into the United States since early 1989. This one is a dead end.

It's my understanding the HEZI SM-1, with some US made parts, is soon to be offered in the US in the form of a retrofit with complete weapons to follow.
This would be legal to do for M1 Carbines that exsisted in "assault-weapon" configuration(having bayonet lug, folding stock, or muzzle attachment) prior to the ban??????? How's that going to work???
