Going to a auction with several stevens sxs in 410. model 311's but with different letters following the model, such as D,E,G. Which would be the older model. Also somewhere along the line they switched to a larger frame & modified the 410 barrels to fit in it, but they sit lower in the frame. Looks odd. Can someone clue me in here?

18" barrels, exposed hammers, well used Stevens... You traded an Ithaca single and you're happy. I guess I am too!

Value is what one will pay. You paid and you're happy. For myself, it's nothing I'd ever be interested in. That's what makes folks buy Chevys, Fords, Dodges, and Nissans.

Strictly speaking such a weapon has little value in the sporting world and not much more as a defensive weapon. Make very sure the weapon exceeds the legal minimums as to total length. Further, the barrels should be a fraction over 18" so that there can never be a question.

We both know you didn't buy the gun for its beauty and I think it's fair to speculate that you won't be shooting sporting clay's either.
Be careful, be legal, and enjoy the gun.
