Looking for details
I have a J. Stevens Arms Co., 20 gauge, bolt action with a clip, model 238 A, that I am trying to find information on. I have looked in gun books but have been unable to find out anything on this model. I found info. on a 237 but nothing on a 238 A. It is in pretty good shape but the barrel could stand to be re-blued and the stock redone.
What I want to know is:
How old is it[?]
Is it worth much[?]
Should I mess with re-bluing and having the stock done[?]
Any information would be a great help.
Thanks

pd,
I don't find it either, but as far as value goes,
I reckon it will ever be worth much, since even the
more "name brand" bolt action shotguns have little
or no collector value.Age?I'm gonna guess 50's-60's.
As far as refinishing goes,it would be a good piece
for you to learn with(assuming you intended to do it
yourself),but to pay someone to do it would cost more
than it would ever be worth.IMHO
Hope this helps,
BW
