Aw, shucks...just fergit it!!
Apparently no one on this board has any interest or knowledge of the gun in question, so I'll just take my question elsewhere. Sayanora, compadres.
(Original Question...for what it's worth.):
Does anyone have experience with the Smith & Wesson Model 629 Performance Center 44 Mag...the one with weights under the barrel, not the futuristic looking "hunter" version? Is this gun worth the big bucks they want for it?

While no one may have had experience with this particular gun, no one blew smoke up your skirt either.

Performance Center revolvers are definitely worth the money. I have a couple and they are a joy to shoot. Being able to buy a custom built gun for not much more than a stock one is well worth it.

Don't have a S & W but I do have a Ruger Super Blackhawk that I really like.
I have shot a S & W belong to my friend and enjoyed it very much. Sorry I cannot remeber the model details.0 -
In all honesty I have never had a Smith that was worth what I payed for it.There are other handguns that are better as in stronger,More accurate, and less costly.I have the 22 target model 41.Would rather shoot my Ruger mark 2.Have a 629 Classic DX.Rather shoot my Big Tarus or Ruger. There autoloaders, well I like my Sig.It is just abought like that with everything they make for me except the j frames.I like those. 0 -

The only S&W's that are worth anything are the ones made before the early 70's; thier quality control went to pot after that. The old Smiths are very fine guns, and are worth what they are asking for new ones now. Problem is, people know this, and they want a lot more for the old ones. I wouldn't have a new smith. 0
