Remington year of manufacture

What details do you need to help me determine the appoximate year my gun was made?

  Brand, model and serial number should do. Use X's for the last couple of digets in the serial # if you like.

  Mr. budreaux39 apparently does not know much about dating Remingtons. The serial number is essentially useless in dating them, and the Model only helps to determine a range of production dates.
  
  Starting in 1921, Remington began using a two letter code that is stamped on the left side of the barrel just in front of the receiver. This code was used on rifles, shotguns, etc.
  
  The first letter of the code determines the specific month of manufacture, and the second letter denotes the year (from 1943 - 1953, three letters were used, but the last two were the same (e.g. "BMM" which indicates January 1943).
  
  First Letters:
  B = January
  L = February
  A = March
  C = April
  K = May
  P = June
  O = July
  W = August
  D = September
  E = October
  R = November
  X = December
  
  The year 1921 used an "M", and the alphabet was continued in sequence (with the letters O, Q, V, and I, skipped/not used). 1943 used the letters "MM", with 1953 using "ZZ", and then Remington shifted back to using a single letter to denote the year (1954 = A). This sytstem is still in use today.
