suppressors without tax?
I am seeing a seller (vertriebkaehny) with a lot of silencers and walther guns for sale. I've read some feedback and it seems that he is selling them out of germany. And he says that he does not need an American license to sell silencers and stuff...Is this true?

Sure he will take your money and send them to you. The problem starts with one word - customs! Someone else will have to answer if he could send them to a U. S. FFL holder. If you are talking about the silenced Walther P22, e-mail me. I can save you from having a room-mate by the name of Bubba!

All firearms, and silencers are defined as firearms in the National Firearms Act, must be imported on an approved ATF Form 6. National Firearms Act firearms may not be imported by private citizens and no Form 6 would ever be approved by the BATFE. A silencer can be imported from overseas by a Type 08 FFL (importer) who has paid the Special Occupational Tax (Class 1) to import NFA firearms. These imports can ONLY be sold to police, the military, and other government agencies...NEVER to a private citizen. The guy in Germany may well be complying with his home countries laws, but you have no where to go legally on this end bigdaddy. Buy your silencer from a licensed FFL here in the States and play it safe!

There is a guy from Germany I've run across on a couple different boards that says he will ship direct to you about any part you could want for AUGs, HKs and SIGs, except barrels and bolts, which is what he says Germany regulates (Mark Christian could probably verify this) ... he has said he can get all the receivers you want and by German law can ship them anywhere ... as pointed out above, that doesn't mean its legal for you to receive them.
I've heard stories of a school teacher in Hawaii and a GM mechanic in Utah that the BTAFE paid a visit to just after the parts were delivered by UPS or USPS ... (I don't remember which) ... I'll admit I don't know for sure if the stories are true ... but for the penalty and the loss of my 2nd Ammendment rights, its not worth it.

Well it took me half the night to finally locate this but back in December, 1992 a German firm named INWATEC ran a number of full page ads in trade publications for stripped machinegun receivers. Boasting no license or paperwork of any kind needed in Germany, willing to ship anywhere (cashiers checks ONLY), NO will calls, and "we respect all of your wishes regarding shipping and declarations", and offering NO OTHER FIREARMS PARTS, INWATEC offered these receivers: AK-47 @$125, AKM @$95, AK-74 @$155, HK MG-3 @$995, HK G-3@ $145, HK-51 @$165, HK MP-5 @$95, HK-32 @$195 (one of the very few HK's I have never fired and I'd LOVE to have a 7.62X39mm HK), and MG-34's @$395. "ORDER NOW FOR THE CHRISTMAS PACKAGE RUSH!!! is what the ad said and I get the idea that it was hoped your newly ordered illegal machinegun receiver would simply get lost in the massive amount of mail moving around during the Christmas season. There were dicounts offered up to 50% on quantity purchases of 100 receivers and air shipping was a flat $50 per unit. This advertisment represents nothing but a quick trip to the slam for 10 years and saying good bye to your firearms rights forever. I'll wager a few misguided folks set their money, got their receivers, and then suffered the penalites.
