S&W Model 53 help...please

Hi, I just inherited a S&W Model 53 6" .22 Rem. Jet serial #K4757xx. I would like to know the approx. date of manufacture. Also, this gun is not like other 53's I have seen. It has a royal blue finish like a Colt Python and has a wide trigger and hammer, a red front sight insert and white outline rear adjustable sight, extra 22 LR cylinder and rosewood presentation smooth target stocks. Is this a normal production gun or specially ordered this way? Estimated value? Also need help on changing cylinders as I don't have a manual. Thanks for any input and sorry for the lengthy post.

  Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson says 1963.The .22 cylinder was a special order and gun came in a cardboard box.Looks like you have a nice one.To change the cylinders the side plate must be removed.If you have not done this before be careful.Better still have someone who has show you.Make sure the screwdriver fits the screw slot perfectly.Hope this helps.

  I can't be of much help, but I would think S&W should be able to get you a manual. Sounds like you've gotten a neat gun.

  The screw directly behind the crane (pivot point for the cylinder) must be removed. Swing the cylinder open and the complete cylinder is then slid forward.

  TaiChi,Thank You for that info.Just goes to show you're never to old to learn.A so called Gun Smith told me you had to remove the side plate.I did it to a mod 51 of mine that I picked up a .22 cylinder for on E-Bay and I guess I was just LUCKY.
