Speer Lawman 45 ACP, 200 grain JHP

Bought a case over a year ago, on sale.

White boxed stuff, black printing, 50 rnds per box. Speer part number (I can't remember, but I'll get it if you ask me...) ?

Most accurate 45 factory ammo I've ever used & the price was certainly right, back then.

I have 20 rounds left of the last box & can't locate any more, anywhere.

Anyone offer up info on whether it's still available? If you know where, can you tell me how to contact them please?

    I believe that the Speer Lawman 200 gr. SJHP may have been discontinued. All that I can find listed now in the Lawman line is the 230 gr. TMJ.

    They do list a 200 gr. HP +P in the Gold Dot line and a 200 gr. JHP in the CCI Blazer line of ammo.

    I believe that is the round they refer to as the flying ashtray as it expands a lot. Sad if that's discontinued.

    Boy you got that right if it's true!

    I know I searched the Speer bullet line for a similar projectile so I could try to duplicate the load characteristics with handloads, but came up empty. The diameter of the hollow-point opening on these 200 grain bullets is about .3"! Nothing they sell in their reloading supply line comes close.

    I'd be hesitant to shoot +P in my HK USP Expert, but I'll look for some on my local retailers shelves, just to see if it looks like the same bullet.

    I tried Blazer in 44Mag once then realized it's cheap because it's not reloadable brass but berdan-primed aluminum. Won't make THAT mistake again.

    I just bought a box last week at my local gunshow. I saw quite a few dealers that carried them, but they are now very expensive. I paid $28.00 for one box which is kind of high, but I use them for my home defense gun. These rounds flatten out really big when they impact. I figure if I have to use it to stop an intruder, one shot anywhere on the body is going to either drop him dead where he stands or the pain is going to be so bad that he will wish he was dead. Iv'e seen too many video clips where the police have unloaded their entire clip of 9mm on some one and not be able to stop them. I hope that I never have to use my gun on someone, but if I do, it's me against him and I don't want to be the loser. I never was a big fan of 9mm semi-auto hanguns with hi-capacity clips. Use a large caliber gun with some quality hollow-point ammo, shoot straight, hit your target and you won't need all those extra rounds!

    Xracer was right the Blazer ammo has the bullet your looking for. Standard 200gr JHP awesome bullet. 200gr JHP NON-gold dot Discontnued by Speer, If you are into reloading call around to your local gun stores & look for #SPE4477 Speer bullet thats the one your looking for, many gun shops that carry reloading supplys should still have them in stock.

    Yep, that's been confirmed in an e-mail from Speer I got yesterday; none of their 'Lawman' brand uses HP's anymore.

    What I bought was about $12/50 about 14 months ago; I bought a case but I'm down to the last 20 rounds.

    Foud some this afternoon at a local gun shop; what put me off before was that these have a cannelure & the white-boxed factory loads don't. Same bullet otherwise though, you're right.

    Now all I need to do is chrony the last 20 I have & find a matching load to use with the 980+ cases I have ready to load!
