unknown m1 carbine make

just returned from a general auction that had firearms on
the billing... one was advertised as a us m1 carbine .30 cal...

I was expecting to see a manufacturer such as Win, INland, underwood,
IBM,..etc..or one of the others..

Normally where you see the serial number , there was none..usually
where the manufactures name is was (Alpine) I believe that is what
it read ..was hard to see.. what appeared to be the serial number
was stamped on left side of receiver..

anyone familiar with this make?

if anyone knows please reply and i'll let you know what it
SOLD for!!!!

  Dug up something in one of my references. These date to the early 60's. Made by a outfit called Alpine Industries. Located in Shaky City, CA . It's believed a total of 17,000 were made, lot of them were supposed to have been sold overseas.

  That $1445 was probably more than the start up money Alpine Industries owner John Arnold had when he began the company in back 1962! Alpine used a lot of rewelded receivers as well as cast receivers from Asia. Alpine is a name to remember and to avoid, in my opinion.
