1863 military musket

Anyone know anything about this rifle. He says its a breach loader but has a ramrod to unjam it. Ive never heard of that sort of thing. Any info?

  Likely the good Captain will drop by, trooper. The pictures are terrible but perhaps some sort of Snyder conversion. Does not feel
  right to me with the rod and extending past the barrel. 101

  To my eyes, the rod looks like a Springfield trapdoor rod.

  Just came online Guys and Gals..Looked into My Magic Crystal Ball...and did a photo comparison...It appears to be a SHORT PATTERN SNIDER, .577 Snider. This is the Standard Snider conversion of the Enfield rifle musket. This version is often refered to as the SARGENT'S PATTERN...A year ago this Gun would have brought upwards of $500.00....but with the influx off these Guns coming home to the States as Antique souviners by our troops stationed in Afganistan...the market is going to driven down...Over 100,000 of these Ex-British Enfield Rifles were issued to the Arab States in the mid 1880's as Surplus when the Martini Henry was issued...From all the correspondance I've recieved from out Troops Stationed in Afganistan, these Rifle/Muskets and Carbine are stored in Three (3) Warehouse's and are selling for $100.00 U.S....Wait a few years and the price will slowly climb up again........
  I forgot to mention; The Snider conversion was and American invention...!~

  just a footnote...
  ATLANTA CUTLERY purchased the entire contants of the ROYAL NEPALESE ARSENAL pre-1900. the purchased PALLETS of snider conversion enfields, as well as sepoy rebellion style guns, and the 1848??? muskets. they are selling them in NRA GOOD+ with all matching numbers for under $600.00. they also have the correct bayonets. this deal was in the making for over a decade. the market value wil certainly crash, but more of us will be able to buy one. we are considering bringing in a few at the shop to fondle, inspect, and sell. best regards, mike.(they also have 3 different martini rifles)
