Question about CZ550 actions
I know the 550 is a modernized 98 action more or less, but will it fit a 98 Mauser stock? I am looking to get a 98 Fajen stock for a custom I'm building but don't want to get stuck with a stock I don't need if it won't fit. Anybody tried this?
PS: it is the 30.06 length standard action not the 550 Magnum action

While I can't ansewer your question directly, mine is a 550 Magnum and I like the "hogback" stock it has, there are a lot of CZ users over at www.accuratereloading.com (goto forums, than down to the riflesmithing and medium bore sections).
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
The problem is I bought a NIB virgin action so I need to get a stock for it. I like the CZ stocks, but I really like the Fajen stocks too. I could take my Turk apart and see if it fits, but a Rem 700 action wouldd probably fit just as closely in that old chunk of wood[:D]

kingjoey,
The fast answer is no, the 550 action does not have the same footprint as the 98 Mauser. You will find that the action screw spacing in different, the lug design is different and in a different location and the outline of the receiver body is very different.
Here are some places to talk to about wood stocks:

Thanks for the info, guess I'll need to find a custom 550 stock[:D]
