As far as the info on your pistol, I can't help you. Get a powder measure made specifically for black powder, as you load a cap & ball revolver by volume, not weight. Hodgdon's website has Pyrodex data, which is a substitute for black powder, and I believe it shows a max load of 28 grains for a 36 cal., but I read somewhere else that the max for that caliber is 25. I have a .44 1851, so I'm not familiar with the 36 caliber. You can do a search for "black powder" or "cap & ball revolvers" and get a wealth of information. I use the search feature on MSN's homepage and I have printed off a lot of info regarding black powder firearms and I've found plenty of links to dealers who sell all the necessary equipment for them. Dixie Gun Works is a good place to start. I'm going to go back and see if I can find some of those links again and I'll post them here if that will help you.

Better to have and not need, than need and not have.

revbear, I see that you are in the Frenchburg area so if you get the chance run over to Mt. Sterling to Backwoods Gun & Archery. They should have all you need to get started shooting. As to the screw contact Dixie Gun Works at:
    http://www.dixiegunworks.com
and you should be able to order the screw from them. Also there is a gun shop in Richmond that is called the Gun Vault or Gun Locker or something along those lines. They have an in house gunsmith who might have the screw in stock. As to grainage on the 36, I use 30 grains of powder for my 44 Remington Repro so I would not use over 25 grains on the 36. I would start out in the 18 grain area.

God protect me from my friends, I can take care of my enemies...
